Illustration Friday: 100%
Saturday, January 5th, 2008For several years when I was a teenager, I would make the new year’s resolution to draw a small part of a picture a day. I would take a clean sheet of 11×17 copier paper, a Pilot super fine roller ball pen, adjust my chair and sit down to create a massive and intricate scene one character at a time. That was my goal. I never got past the third of fourth.
I’ve made a resolution this year to update this blog once a day with a new drawing. Though I’ve done alright so far (having done a drawing a day until the fifth has broken my standing record), I already feel that ’so what’ feeling creeping up about doing a doodle a day. I was trying to think of a challenge when I saw Illustration Friday’s “100%” theme. I rarely draw full pages, so for today’s drawing I’m going to use up 100% of the page.

Brush and ink on 8.5 x 11 copier paper. Done without pencils roughs, hence the inconsistent gnomes.
UPDATE: It’s the ninth, and I’ve done a drawing a day. That puts me at 2.46% of my resolution’s goal.
